In line with the conclusions that have been published by the EU Council, the Commission has been called to urgently present proposals and mobilise financing for actions related to all migratory routes. Soon after the summit, the EU Commission came out with several conclusions, including the migration issues.

However, after the summit, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the Commission would not fund any barbed fences or walls, indicating that the EU countries should not put any physical barriers. Such actions have been seen as doings of Lukashenko, who, according to its political rivals, is using migrants in order to destabilise the bloc, reports.Īccording to the German newspaper Deutsche Welle, during the summit, the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, called for the EU authorities to immediately amend the migration policies and build a physical fence in order to control such illegal actions. The reaction of the EU leaders follows a surge of refugees and migrants that were trying to enter Poland illegally through the Belarusian territory.
